the answer is Carles Puyol from FC Barcelona.

Cannavaro has been exposed in Spain as a fraud. He had a nice season at the House of Cheat (not the first season he has had to give up the scudetto) and with the Italian World Champion team, but he isn´t the best center back in the world, let alone in Europe. I can tell you that players in La Liga are not afraid of the Real defense with Cannavaro like they were with Hierro.

Terry is an animal who I would take on my team anytime. What separates Terry and Cannavaro (and most other Center backs) is that Terry is an actual scoring threat on set plays, and even during the course of regular action. Just look at how Chelsea has struggled without him being healthy.

John Terry is the world's best center-back! John Terry is better than Fabio Cannavaro :)

John Terry is an extremely underrated footballer.
I think Fabio deserves all the accolades he acheived but I also believe that Terry's talent goes largely unnoticed and unappreciated.
I think Terry is better than Cannavaro but I deeply respect both of them. They are good defenders.

You missed Carlos Puyol. He's excellent too, you know. And Carvalho....

For me it's Cannavaro. He's able to achieve more in his entire career. Although he's a bit of a disappointment presently with the "merengues" I think he did a stellar performance while still in the Lega Calcio. Terry is very good too, but Fabio's at a higher level. He's got a World Cup!
