Aren't they just a little out dated and a little to sleazy? Most of them are not the cleanest places either and drug use is always a factor. They also serve to perpetuate the stereotype that gay men are sexaholics and incapable of maintaining meaningful relationships.Besides, with Internet dating, gay men have an all new method of seeking anonymous sex if that really is all they are looking for.So, what need does the gay community have with keeping bath houses around?

I have not anywhere in my question implied that all gay men go to those places.I simply pointed out that what they are like and what goes on inside of them and asked why we still need them since they are so outdated, sleazy, dirty, devoid of romance or emotion, and in many cases have drug uses in them. But no where have I suggested how many people go there. In fact, if the larger majority of gay men don't go there, what is the point of them?

I agree that they are gross, dirty and sleezy. They can be fun however also dangerous.
I think that there are better ways of finding sex.

The first logical explanation about something like this is the fact that gay men are just that...Men! It has been proven time and time again that men think of sex differently than women. Whether it is true or not, is yet still a question in my mind, because I never do follow those studies as 75% of the time, they are proven wrong a few years later. So is it possible that is the reasoning behind this? Maybe, but I doubt it. Second, would be the fact that many gay people feel as though they have a class that they have to fit into in order to actually be gay. It is a bit sickening to see something like this. It reminds me of the days that I thought I had to dress and act a specific way to listen to a type of music. It is all about the "first" person that "defined" the characteristics of a specific group of people. This, along with my last point, is the only thing that I can see being a reason for your findings. My last point that, like I mentioned, ties into my second, would be the fact that all the gay men that live in these communities, are like this. Either to fit in, or just because that is what they are all about. The reason does not really matter. What matters is the fact that there are only a handful of gay communities around the U.S. but a dozen handfuls of gay men. Gay men live all over, and most that I have met, do not fit the stereotype that TV and movie put on the orientation. My suggestion is, if this type of thing bothers you, relocate. Gay men are all over the place, and are not too hard to find.

Each to his own taste. There is a strong gay scene in Sydney with numerous bars and clubs. There is a lot of internet dating in chatrooms and there are also at least four saunas which do good business and many other sex-on-premises places as well.
One group of men who go to saunas and other places for anonymous sex are married men who have an otherwise straight existence. They enjoy sex with men but want no complications. There are also out-of-towners and locals who like the sex without having to go through all the complications of bars or internet dating.
If you don't like them, don't go, but don't begrudge them to those who enjoy them.

Its not only a gay thing, There are lots of swinger clubs for strait couples where they swop partners and stuff.
So its not only a gay thing, and leave the people be, if they want to do it, let them!
The problem with people today is that they always want people to do things their way, Live and let live i say!!!

And are there not people (gay or straight) who are sexaholics and incapable of maintaining meaningful relationships?
While there remain those who choose to use them...

Because before I am gay, I am a man, and truthfully, given the oppurtunity all men are whores by nature and design. Those who say they arent, are whores and liars.
