You don't need to, but if you want to really be prudent and ensure the best start in life for your little one, then it is a good idea. Your doctor can give you a blood test to check your rubella immunity and iron levels, and if these are low they can be sorted out before you get pregnant. It is also a good idea for you both to have STD tests as these can cause problems.
Of course, many women don't see a doctor until they are pregnant, and this is fine too, but it doesn't hurt to pay the doctor a visit first.

Many women do not see the doctor when they are planning to start a family but it's better to unless you know pretty well about what you have to do before pregnancy.
You should check the diseases and make sure you are clean. You may say i am clean but there are many viruses that you may not know which aren't dangerous for you but may be harmful for your baby. You and your spouse should do medical check up.

if you have heart disease or heartattack, you should follow what the doctor instructs so that it will be easier for you while you are pregnant. May be you are healthy but you still should check up for all the necessary checkups for your baby.
You should start taking prenatal vitamins since you are planning. This vitamins should be taken even after you give birth and while breastfeeding. so, if you want to get extra care for the baby, you should go and see Ob/Gyn Doc and discuss with him. Otherwise, you should read
www.fitpregnancy.com
www.pregnancyweekly.com
www.babycenter.com
there are many more websites but i read those personally and sign up.
Having extra care and caution is good for not only you, but also your baby and husband to become a healthy and happy family.

For many women trying to conceive - that phrase rings far from true. For anyone who is trying to conceive, we know it's an uphill battle, as well as an emotional journey to achieve that ultimate goal to have a baby.

Even though almost half of all fertility problems are women's health problems, both partners should be fully involved as well as tested, to diagnose all probable factors of infertility.

Whether through holistic means, traditional means - Amazing Pregnancy will try to cover all the avenues available - providing information, informative sites and recommended reading, on the sensitive but relevant subject of trying to conceive.

No you dont really only if it will put your mind at rest. just make sure you start taking folic acid all the time before you start trying and you keep taking it right through pregnancy, try cutting down on alcahol and stuff like that then its just go n try try try. the only reason you really need to go to a doctor is if you've been trying for a few months with no joy. good luck and congrats :--)

If you are in resonable good health then no there would be no need. If you have any concerns or recent illnesses that were worrying or if there is a family history of pregnancy related or genetic problems then maybe a check up before hand would help.

I would only go to the doctor befor pregnancy if I were a smoker, drug or alcohol user and needed help or advice about how to stop. You can buy good pre-pregnancy vitamin tablets from most places as the doctor will only give you iron tablets after conception.

You sure should. You should get tested for any STDs before getting pregnant so that if you have any they can be treated. You should also start on prenatal pills before getting pregnant. Starting them before instead of after has been shown to decrease the chances of the baby having neuro tubular (sp?) defects. Your doctor will also be able to help you identify any lifestyle or diet changes that you should change before getting pregnant. Good luck!

Well, it's probably a good idea to have a full physical, and see your gynecologist for a pap and information; she'll be a great source of info. for you.
