My friend needs to apply for SSI, are there agencies or social workers who can help her apply?

she can go to her local Social Security Office they have people there who would be more than happy to take the time to help her.

Yes, just go to your local Social Services office and there will be people there to help

I went through this in 2000 and it took me two years to get it. Sometimes it is faster though depending on the circumstances. Your friend will need a lawyer, but go for it as the lawyer is paid out of the backpay they will get if they are approved.
