probably should make a little home based business that doesn't require regular hours to maintain. this could be service or manufacture a product. service needs regular hours, somewhat. so maybe make something. was just reminded of garden gnomes. couple days casting and finishing, sell in spare time, perhaps on ebay. NOT promoting garden gnomes, mind you. could be anything. almost spring, whip out a few hundred nice custom birdhouses or feeder units, sell to garden shops.

Get him to check his employment contract as there may be jobs that he wouldn't be allowed to do, such as a bus driver working for a taxi firm.
Is he doing it for the money? If not then there are lots of volunteering jobs available. Try your local council website.

it depends what his skills are and what he can do. ie; if he has a trade he could advertise in the local paper and then pick and choose what work he does. Supermarkets and other shops do part-time jobs. Door work? it really does depend on what he can do..........
