It's not a true communist country in any sense now.

China, is closer to being a free market economy and capitalist nation than both the US and the UK.

I wish it luck in the coming years.

You don't know what you're talking about do you? I've spent a good deal of time in Cuba and it was brilliant. Nice holiday resorts, lovely people who were unafraid and unabashed to talk about almost anything. Sure, Cuba is a poor country but that's been caused almost exclusively by it's overbearing and threatening neighbor to the north.

The Chinese are obviously very stubborn. They continue to starve their own people, because of their lack in economy, however, in their case, it may be a good thing, due to their over-population. I guess the Chinese are bored, so have too much sex, in order to curb it. The law on having children there, is that each family may have only one child, because of the over-population, and if a son is not born to the family, they put the little girls in orphanages! Sick! The whole government and their people are frigging sick maniac's! Maybe in a way it is good for now that they stay communist, although they are still not doing a good job on their population control. Acting like rabbits hasn't done them any good, and if they were to change to democratic ways, they would become an over-burden to the rest of the world. Perhaps the rest of the world should do to them what the Australians did to their over-populated rabbit situation, they having no choice in order to save their land, and other species of animals, shoot a lot of the bugger's dead. It may sound a harsh solution, but it seems necessary for the survival of the rest of the world.

Maybe you are young or just don't know, but "communist" doesn't have quite the same meaning as it did 60 years ago. China has been changing it's "nature" for years.
I'm proud to say I like China and its people and I am an American.

China has increasingly allowed some forms of free enterprise and capitalism to mingle into their communist, government-controlled economy. By next generation, China will liberalize their political stranglehold on their vast population, increase democratic reforms, & eventually will have multi-party elections. With initial tastes of freedom, the intelligencia portion of the population will demand more freedoms in the future.

Socialism with Chinese characteristics - I think it is a feasible and a very nescessary system for such a vast country which has embraced a free market system.

There will be liberalisation in very gradual stages provided there's no drastic social upheaval. Tian-an-mien square type democratic protests cannot and must not be allowed overnight - the peace and order must be preserved to allow economic activities to progress. Western style democracies are definitely not on.

China has worked its way out of isolationism because of globalized trade. This is a good thing other than our trade is way out of balance there. We need them as an ally with our joint worries about North Korea. On the other hand, we strongly disagree with their policies concerning Taiwan who wants independence. China's military and advanced weapons are daunting. They have been known to sell weapons to our enemies.
China still oppresses its people. Its not uncommon for Christians to go to prison or "disappear" when the government finds out that they are meeting secretly.
Someone above mentioned a "sleeping dragon" and I agree.

Change.

Because that's what's happened in every other communist country. Well almost. I'm thinking of Cuba. But Cuba, and the others, will change, too.

They're learning all about free enterprise in a peaceful way and I think they like it. I believe they'll eventually evolve away from communism, just as Russia has been doing. It won't be done overnight but I think it will happen. I don't believe we'll have a war with them either, it's not in either nations best interest.

I'm not sure, but it's probably something to do with it catching up in its industrial revolution. that's why they're not that economic, because they're going through what britain did in the 19 century and the russians afterwards.
