You can't replace Giggs like you can't replace Keane. You already have Ronaldo who is an out and out winger. Why not use a left midfielder who has a playing style more like Beckham (when he was younger and could actually run) but with a left front.

How does one replace a legend? But if I had to give an answer, I would have to say someone like the young brizillian Anderson from Porto fc. For some who is still very young, 19 I think, he reminds me of Giggs in his younger days, the Giggs that would not stop running at defenders with the ball. I still think the goal Giggs scored against Arsenal in the semi of th FA Cup some years ago is the best goal ever.

I dunno about Bale, he is a left back though I have heard he maybe converted. As to replacing Giggs I'd think at 17 hes still too young to see. He needs more time to develop.

United do have Park and Richardson, but also Lee Martin stands out as a potential successor. I would like a Downing or similar player who has a lot of offensive tools to add depth.

Yes Bale is the answer if Ryan Giggs was a left back. Vincente at Valencia is a good shout or Nani at Sporting Lisbon

Gareth Bale is a defender, he can't replace Giggs, I don't think anyone can truly replace a player like him, but he won't retire that soon, he's still a spectacular player. If I were Ferguson I would try to go for Barcelona's Messi who is also left-footed.

you can not replace giggs, he is as unique as best. but to play on the left wing and being adaptable to switch right and as a loan striker. look no further than the ever improving kieran richardson. patrice evra will form another great understanding along the left side.

but hey giggsy has another couple of seasons to go.
gareth bale will be an outstanding player and yes i welcome a move for him but not as a left back.
