There is a solution of Limonene oil & wild oil of oregano that works wonders. A few drops of this solution in water can be gargled and then swallowed. Also, another solution that can work is about 15 drops of concentrated Grapefruit seed extract (GSE) in some water, gargled and then swallowed. This will typically kill any bacteria, etc. causing the problem.

You also need to get your immune system back in shape to keep you from getting this problem.

Usually sore throats are from the mucus that comes from post nasal drip or from your lymphatic system getting clogged trying to eliminate the infected cells, etc. A good herb for this is "devil's claw."

You can also eat a lot of grapefruit because it contains a lot of quinine that is a great infection fighter. I suggest beefing up the immune system with Bovine Colostrum, Oleuropin (olive leaf extract), and nucleotides.

If these solutions do not help, you may have a more severe problem that will need more specific attention.

Throat spray, which is available at stores like Walgreens.

Probably, your throat is sore because you are not drinking enough water.

Readers Digest:
"Here are three ways that you can make a sore throat feel better:
If your throat is left raw by a bad cough, or even a speaking or singing engagement, you'll find fast relief by gargling with 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon salt dissolved in a glass of warm water; use several times a day if needed.

For sore throats associated with a cold or flu, combine 1/4 cup cider vinegar and 1/4 cup honey and take 1 tablespoon every four hours.

To soothe both a cough and a sore throat, mix 1/2 cup vinegar, 1/2 cup water, 4 teaspoons honey, and 1 teaspoon hot sauce. Swallow 1 tablespoon four or five times daily, including one before bedtime. Warning: Children under one year old should never be given honey. "

I was having alot of anxiety before sleeping and could not fall asleep. Had many many sleepless nights.

I was just playing with the program one afternoon and wanted to listen to the Power Nap track. Next thing I knew I was waking up! Fell right asleep without trying. After using the Fall Asleep track, I could fall asleep right away. But I didn't realize that I shouldn't be using that one all night. Switched to Whole Night and have been using it ever since.

I can go to sleep with ease now. I just lay and listen to the sounds and next thing I know I am waking up from a nice sleep. I don't suffer from lack of sleep anymore. I keep an IPod with earbuds next to my bed and take it ALWAYS when traveling. The earbuds help block out ambient noise and the sleep tracks keep me sleeping sound :)

Reboot your brain & sleep soundly again?

milk and honey, throat spray, halls, Vick's, lemon juice. Oh, and garlic! (a natural anti-biotic)

It could also be a lack of vitamins or an allergy.

When I need sleep, I try reading a really dull book in bed (non-fiction, no pictures). Something work related, so you try to concentrate, but it's just not fun or controversial enough to keep you awake.

Try gargling with water soluble aspirin-it's better than salt.
Severe sore throat may not necessarily be a strep virus.
If your glands are up you might well have glandular fever.Ask your doc to check.
Meanwhile do not be tempted to take any medication which might mask interpretation of a blood sample

relax you'll be okay. Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

chloraseptic is the only thing that works for me when i have a sore throat...that stuff is miraculous!!....if you don't feel up to running to the 24 hr drug store, then i'd take an over the counter pain reliever and sip on some non-caffienated tea with honey in it.....
hope you feel better!! sore throats are yucky!!
(oh, popsicles are good sometimes too!)

A spoonful of honey works wonders. If you don't want to do that, put a tablespoon of honey in a cup of hot tea, your throat will feel soo much better afterwards.

I feel for ya. Try to take some Tylenol(3 500mg caps an arthritic dosage). Run out to a 24 hr store and get some dedicated sore throat medication. If it's really bad enough you could go to your nearest E.R. "my thoat feels like it is getting bigger too"

What you need is a cool mist humidifier, and add a pint of hydrogen peroxide to the tank, and run that while you sleep. You will likely feel better in the morning, and won't need the "antibiotics".
