Is that what makes them a friend?

If they don't they aren't your friends.

A real friend has your best interest at heart and will tell you when you are screwing up or wrong. If this isn't happening, you just have a series of acquaintances.

depends on the friend.....sometimes we get together and a third personality develops sometimes I lead, sometimes I follow and some times I just have to get the HELLO out of the way and see what transpires We always have a designated baby sitter, who has a lot more responsibility than a designated driver

yes.

and it used to annoy the hell out of me.

they tried to tell me how to live my life and i definately wasn't cool with that.

i learned to get along for a while without their support in some things i was doing. they weren't even bad, but they just didn't feel they were good for me.

recently one of those close friends of mine went through the same thing i was going through and chose to live her life the same way i did. now. i'm not going to go shoving "i told you so" in her face because i know she had good intentions. instead. i will try to be there for her as much as i possibly can.

so does it make them a good friend keeping me in check?

honestly it varies. as long as they don't do it to a fault. there's a difference between caring and just straight telling someone how to live their life.

don't cross it. everyone needs to learn on their own sometimes.

personal experience is the best way to do so.
