it all depends on what colour top your wearing you could go for either black or brown shoes.
i personally think the brown shoes with a lighter coloured top
another thing you could do is check out mens catalogues and see what colour shoes they wear with brown trousers and see what tops they wear as well

The general rule is that socks should match the pants. Of course, an exact color match isn't necessary. However, the socks should be a darker shade than the pants. White socks with jeans seems OK if you're being casual. The rules are not the same for men and women. For example: Women often don't wear socks.

you can get away with two colours
brown
- but that could look over the top
black
- would be best: black goes with anything and everything

Are they like chocolate brown.
Wear brown dress shoes.
