um sorry to burst your bubble but don't we celebrate president's day (unless i miss something they have been all white) also we celebrate their individual birthdays. um hello theres mtv. when it strated it was only for white people.
hip hop is taking over so it had to evolve or die. i can't speak for other minorites but for blacks its just america's way of apologizing for what was done to our ansestors. i mean america payed out millions of dollars to holocast survivors. was their ordeal greater than ours. did america commit the crimes against them. then why did our tax dollars go to them. i don't hink your racist but it's not just minorites that are coddled but we are always the first to get pointed at. why do men get payed more than women. how is it that white collared crime is commited everyday but never goes public. if a white kid shoots up a school they are under too much stress. if a kid from any minority shoots up a school its gang related
everything isn't in blacks favor. we are still blamed for 90% of crime. there was a recent study that showed that a black person with the same job and credit as a white person will still get a higher interest rate on anything. and if the status quo has been met then even the most successful black man can just forget about getting the job of his dreams. so obviously all of the "special " treatment that we ( as a part of the minority group) are suppose to be getting must be in your neck of the woods.
please let's look at the bigger picture. america is filled with contradictions and double standards. the rich get richer and the poor get crapped on black, white or what ever. if something isn't far then do something about it, but do it the legeal way and the peaceful way. then maybe one day you'll be celebrated

If this is a sincere question, contrary to the condescending tone the question invokes, then please take the following OPINION into consideration. Race in America has, and probably always will be, a serious point of contention for ALL parties involved. When a person GENERALLY promotes a WHITE agenda, there is the often blatant overtone of invoking White pride through the defamation of other races. The message is that of how minorities are: stealing jobs, undermining "good old American values", leeching on society, ignorant, less than human, filthy, less intelligent and less capable than their white counterparts, the list goes on and on from one extreme to the next. They argue that the White man is losing his power and status in this country and that by removing the cause of the problem (through deportation, segregation, in some extremes physically attacking minorites, this list goes on and on as well) the White race will rise to its righful place of predominance. Unfortunately this behavior and attitude is still a voice in our society, sometimes more prevailent at certain times and in certain areas than others and many are offended by it (white and minority alike).
Yet notice when Whites celebrate in a "white-Eurocentric" ethnic way: such as St. Patricks Day or through various restaurants, local celebrations and festivals (Germans, Polish, Irish, Italian, Slavic, French, Greek, etc) it is NEVER about belittling others, its about celebrating and expressing pride in oneself, and we all (minorites too) celebrate with them, acknowledge the worthiness of their pride, and support it.
To me, THAT is the difference. All Minorites want is the respect that equality, in the law, minds and hearts of all men, provides. We all want to be as treated the Majority would treat itself.
If African Americans could trace their history to a specific country (notice I said Country, not Continent) or a specifc ethnic group/tribe (whatever), you would see the general title of "Black" disappear. A good example of this is shown the cultural identity of those that immigrate from Africa or the Carribean. Most don't recognize themselves as black, they readily identify with their homeland (Nigerians, Haitians, Cubans, Brazillains, Afro-Puerto Ricans,etc.). For most African- Americans, they can only trace their black lineage to slavery, any link to Africa, was destroyed (intentionally) during slavery. So as a general group/ or ethnic descriptor (Black, African-American, whatever), in America, it is exactly that, a descriptor, not an agenda. And for the most part, that is how it is recognized and is generally accorded that distinction.
Unfortunately, the baggage of oppression is still tied to the "Whites only", segregationist mentality which is still out there and rears its ugly head from time to time. It is something that I think we (America) are trying to move past, but it will take time.
And lastly, since you STATED you are NOT racist (with an open mind, no less), I will take you at your word. Yet by insinuating that minorites are coddled in America, you betray within yourself the foundation of POTENTIALLY racist attitudes. "Minorites" almost becomes this abstract hodge-podge of "others" that are somehow coddled (trying to move past the intentional baiting that your choice of verb, in its context, invokes) while, I believe I am to assume that you are stating the MAJORITY are NOT coddled by any means(perhaps with priviledge or preference amongst themselves) in this country?
