Fred Perry hitting a backhand volleyFrederick John Perry (May 18, 1909 – February 2, 1995) in Stockport, Cheshire. was an English tennis player and three-time Wimbledon champion. He was the World No. 1 player for 5 years, four of them consecutive, 1934 through 1938, the first three years as an amateur.
