no it wont us games will not work on a european spec ps2
your best bet would be to buy a us version the only way to get us games to work on a uk model is to have it chipped but i dont recomend this as your warrenty will be void and it also shortens the life of your consoll

there is not any thank you to get PS2 backwards compatibility at this factor. The equipment would not have an Emotion Chip that's the source of PS2 compatibility. Emotion Chips have been taken out of extra recent PS3 fashions to lessen manufacturing expenditures (alongside with different valuable factors), which led to cost drops.

No, the UK uses a PAL format, I cant remember what is used in europe and US. We use region 1, Europe uses region 2, and the rest of the world region 3.
So if you take your PS2 over to USA and buy games over there you will not be able to use them, unless you get it modified over there.
