Almost every geographic area has some sort of intrinsic pending danger. While there are some areas that have less perhaps than others, there are always dangers, and you can't live your life afraid of what might happen.
Move where you want to live, make sure the building you live in is appropriately built for the region (earthquake resistant around faults, hurricane resistant in those areas, has an underground shelter in tornado alley, isn't in a flood plain zone, etc.) Take cautions, but don't live in fear.
Also, if you can't allay your personal fears of a particular area, then you probably won't relax and enjoy living there, so you might want to consider another area if this is the case.
Enjoy life!!
(short answer: earthquake fears would not be MY reason for avoiding the L.A. area)

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

No. Don't be worried at all. I lived in LA for 20 years and in my lifetime the only major earthquake was the Northridge earthquake in 91 or 92. It was when I was young. Even then my house shook a lot but nothing broke. Don't live in Northridge haha. Or Whitter. Whitter had a bad earthquake like 25 years ago.
Live in Pasadena area or surrounding San Gabriel Valley. It's nice suburban/urban and the earthquakes don't hit hard there.

Not really. Most everything in LA now is Earthquake resistant. Just make sure you keep a emergency kit. Check with the local community centers they can give you all kinds of info on earthquake preparedness. I personally am more concerned about the gangs than the quakes.
