My job is crap and I have three things which get me through the day. Kiss fm (UK) on the car radio on way to work, Yahoo Answers during most of the day, and the knowledge that come 5pm I'll be heading home. And yes I am a looking for another job.

What's so bad here you may ask:-
Colleagues boring
Office too quiet
Not enough work to do
Mostly when people speak its about work (I know I don't come her to socialise but constant talk about work makes my day feels twice as long).

More importantly, where do you work that you can spend "most of the day" on yahoo answers, and why do you hate it?

I have been in a similar situation, and I did talk about it with another yahoo answerer, you could refer the link below.
It is so sad that sometimes we are meant to do much more, and we only feel demoralized when we end up with jobs that dont make us use our educational qualifications, talents / creativity or knowledge. Those months at that office, were torture, and thats when I understood the meaning of this line that '''boredom can kill''. It is good that you are looking for another job, and ofcourse, by now you would never make wrong choices, even if say the pay may be a little less than what you may expect, go for something that gives you this satisfaction at the end of the day. This job where I had this similar experience got me so so sooo depressed that I have never gone back to thinking of ever working for anyone again, and I have my own small business, which may not give me the 'big time' returns now, but sooner or later, whatever little creativity, knowledge or efforts I put in will give me what I am looking for, I am sure.
Hope everything works out with you too. Although it looks like you are relaxed with the FM, yahoo answers and heading back home, I am sure you are really not career happy. And the best thing as you are already doing now, is to look for another job.

Unfortunately, there are alot of jobs out there that need a makeover, here in the US as well. I start my day with a cup of coffee, and then check MySpace for any friends that wanted to contact me, during the night. Unfortunately, because of my trade, I only work from March to October because the winter season is pretty much impossible getting any work done. So, I am ending my starving phase, and will jump into 40 plus hours a week before long. I try to keep myself busy, with a band I adopted three months ago from the UK who wants to tour here in America. So, I have kind of become their unseen agent, in a way. It keeps me from going crazy most days, with something interesting to accomplish.

Lady's night. Yes. That gets me through the week because it's on a Monday .......... and Tuesday .... and Wednesday ..... and Thursday ..... and Friday ...... and Saturday ....... and Sunday. Every other Wednesday it's a threesome night and every other Thursday is an "all join in" night. Oh, and Fridays are a bit different - it''s the big hump when the girl nicknamed the Camel comes down (can't imagine why she has that nickname).

The odd bit of tootling around on the Internet; copious cups of tea; the knowledge that the work I do, whilst in the not-for-profit sector, is enabling others to make the best of themselves and help other people in their locality (I organise training programmes for delegates from all over the world, with a strong emphasis on Third World countries).

HOPE YOU FIND ANOTHER JOB SOON, I WORK NIGHT'S SO I SPEND MOST OF MY TIME ON HERE LOL, IF I GET BORED WITH THIS I WATCH A FILM,OR GO OUT TO THE GYM. HAVE EVEN BEEN KNOW TO HAVE A DANCE ROUND THE HOUSE, TRYING TO LEARN BELLY DANCING AT THE MOMENT. BY THE TIME I HAVE DONE ALL THAT ITS NEARLY BEDTIME.

Agree with the first answer, but I also look forward to chatting with my husband in the evening as we prepare dinner - it's usually the first time I've seen him all day, and I so look forward to it. Yes, I'm very sad but also very much in love.

what gets me through the day is keeping busy. if i stop doing stuff i start to think about harming myself and my shrink says i have to resist the urges.
