Some TV program do have bad influence for children. However, aren't we suppose to be the one to take note of the tv program that our children watch? That's the reason why they call the parent guidance (PG).

When my friend was a little kid, she started saying this one swear word. She saw the actors say it on this TV show, and she thought it was just another word to express a negative emotion like "Oh no!" or "You're stupid."
She didn't understand what swear words were back then, so her dad just told her that it was very bad and not to say it again. Plus, her cousin told her that her mouth would become a duck bill. So, she stopped. =P
Swear words aren't supposed to sound nice, so I would think that it's a bad habit; they have unpleasant sounding letters in them like the short i sound or k sound. (I learned it in an english class.....so really, I didn't come up with that =P)
Reasonable proof, I hope.

no - i like collecting old books, and you sould read some of the children's stories of 150 years ago! however, i don't play gta in front of my 4 year old, nor do i let her watch saw films - the rating is there for a reason - bad parents won't pay any attention to that. violence is relative - i don't have any objections to my little girl or my neices playing pirates or space heros with swords etc, i'd much rather they play then watch high school musical or other similar childrens programmes (too much sex and pressure to act big if you ask me!) gaming is a form of play, as is making dens and fortresses - we should let them be children

The television has replaced the family relationship in many homes. Time that used to be spent talking to one another is often spent watching TV in separate rooms. Regardless of what the kids are watching on television it is destroying the family.

well i grew up watching the roadrunner cartoons, tom and jerry, and the lone ranger and i never pushed anyone over a cliff, electricuted anyone, or shot anyone depicted in those programs. if someone is unstable enough to act on something they see in a movie, its only a matter of time, before they snap for another reason. you cant take everything away for a handful of future loons. a vanilla world would make many more crazies than a few violent movies.

thats the whole point of the ratings system for television shows. if you dont want your children watching certain shows because you believe they will influence your child in a negative way, then aviod shows with ratings that arent suitable for children. certain shows are even shown at a time where children arent normally awake to deter them from watching it.

the problem isn't the television per say its television with out guidance and proper parenting that is a problem. With out neglect television poses no threat to the development of children if they don't watch for more than an hour a day and don't sit too close.

The problems is not the tv show.
The problems is little children were at loss with our creator's universal gifts of life vital for their own survival and advancement of themselves at loss and could not differenrtiate between fantasy and reality or ghost stories in planet of apes.
The blunders and slip-ups with human errors was created in the creation of living human kind into mankind with loss of our creator's universal gifts of life in planet of apes.

Infants learn by imitating parents, kids do the same. They imitate things they see.
