Where can I find a legitimate work-at-home occupation?

Question

I am legally blind and I have trouble finding employment due to discriminatory issues (unfortunately). I am a college student majoring in the computer/technology field. I have come to the conclusion that the only way for me to make a decent living (rather than struggling on disability) is to seek a work-at-home opportunity. Is there anything legitimate out there that may be of help to me? I am not looking for a get-rich quick "scheme" (although that would be nice if they existed) just some work as I am quite tired of the struggle. Thanks for any input.

I've found something that I'm really happy with!!
(International is fine, too.)

It's not get rich quick, but it will quietly run in the background until it's ready to truly support you & your family with a real income. (Doesn't take long, though.)

Unfortunately, most work-at-home occupations are frauds. Many times they sound too good to be true, and often are.

However, there are a couple routes:

1) Independent Sales Rep
This can be for beauty companies like Avon or Mary Kay, or vitamin and health companies like Shacklee or Nikken, or even for adult sex toys....there are tons of companies that are 100 percent reliant on independent sales reps.

Now, this isnt a job for everyone. If you arent a person with many contacts, or you are shy, or you just suck at sales....you will not be able to work as an INdependent Sales Rep, but if you do have the gift of sales, you can become wealthy rather easily.

2) Medical Transcription.
This is a legit work-at-home occupation. However, it takes training, it isnt something that Joe Somebody can just apply for a MT position and then do it his way. There are a standard set of rules,through the AAMT (American Association of Medical Transcriptionists) that tell you, how you MUST dictate the audio files.

Now, if you have a background in the medical field, you are able to understand difficult foreign accents, and have knowledge of medical terminology, then this would work out great for you.

If not, there are many MT schools out there that train

I wish there were more legit opportunities, but these are the only 2 work-at-home jobs that I can personally vouch for.

If you are in IT, there are positions that you can find that are tele-commute positions... I know where I'm at the cable provider starts its broadband tech support people at the call center, but after 3 months, they give you the option to telecommute... you take the calls at home and use a pc to connect to the company's system. So remote tech support/ admin jobs are a possibility for the IT field.
