Just to confirm I mean "equal" purely in days, weeks, months and years.

Well, just to answer your question statistically....

Margaret Thatcher served as Prime Minister from 4 May 1979 to 28 November 1990, when she officially resigned.

Tony Blair became Prime Minister on 2 May 1997; so,if my figures are correct, in order to equal Thatcher's longevity in office, he would have to stay until November 26, 2008. (I haven't factored in leap-years, so I may be off by a day or two.)

Blair´s only interest, and presumably this includes his legacy, is based on how long he was in the hot-seat, then he needs to get his head examined. He made a statement recently that the last 18 months have been the most dynamic of his years in power - this in spite of meltdown at The Home Office, the NHS and the mess that is the civil war in Iraq. That statement is a measure of his loss of sanity.

It was a Greek philosopher, I think, who said "Those the Gods seek to destroy, they first make mad."

We are witnessing the latter, the destruction is gaining momentum as the police investigate cash for honours.

The fact is the Labour party in general is telling him to go now so why doesn´t he listen, instead of burying his head in the sands of the unreal, bizarre world in which he lives?

On 7 September 2006 Blair publicly stated he would step down as party leader by the time of the TUC conference in September 2007, but has not yet given a date for his departure.

Thatcher was in power from May 1979 to November 1990, roughly 11 and a half years.
Blair would reach 10 years in May this year, so there is no way he will match Thatchers record (unless it's to do with screwing up the country)

Hello,
The question really shoud be, will Blair be chucked out of his dodgy office as British Prime minister? if you research your question properly you will find that PM Thatcher was quietly ousted too, and not before time either. she was doing to this country what Blair is doing now, creaming it for all she can get for herself and her rotten party.
This is a great country for an HONEST political Party, BUT all the present parties are on the make, and they say Prostitution is illegal here, Hmmm! I wonder....... Tony M

If that's the only reason for him to stay he should go now. She left the country in a better state than she found it Blair has done the opposite.

Long enough to break Thatcher's record so when his charity robbing b*tch next goes on speecg tour she can call herself 'Cherie Booth - wife of the longest serving British PM' whereas she should go as 'Cheire Booth - no morals, values or principles - wife of the most inept, spineless, gutless, incompetent and corrupt British PM, EVER'!
