I mentioned, to a relative, that I saw a compelling film.
They asked if It was on TV. I said that it was a movie from Netflix. They asked If I had it. I said No, that I had sent it back. The relative got peeved that I sent it back without sharing and that I never think to share any of my Netflix movies with them.
I like faster turn around and when I view a film, I send it back to get the next one.
Am I in the wrong to not share with a relative in a different household, or is it ok to just view what I choose?
I sometimes share, if I rent with them in mind, but I didnt think that it was a requirement with every DVD.
Whats your take on this?

There is always problems with loaning your stuff to people. This would be no different. I am not saying your relatives are not responsible enough to get the movies back to you or Netflix in a timely manner; but people don't take as much care when they are not being held accountable and keeping track of who has which DVD is a headache.

The best thing to do would be invite your relatives over if you get a hot new movie. This will allow you to share without having to worry about it as much. Plus, they won't have to clean house for another party. Obviously, your tastes won't match your relatives' 100% of the time, so don't bother inviting them if you know they won't like the show. Instead, suggest that they sign up for the service and pick what they would like to see.

With NetFlix as with any other rental you have to think of the person you're lending it to and how responible they are. They break it YOU bought it! Also, I've had situations were I lend someone a movie and they like it and lend it to someone and then I have to scavenger hunt around town to get it back. The bottom line is it's YOUR decision and anyone that would be mad at you for not having enough "psychic power" to know they wanted to watch something you paid for is silly.

I think they can probably cough up their own $5.99/mo.
