LUIGI'S D"ITALIA in Anaheim on St. college, 714 490 0990. I love their food. It's a nice small family own resturant and resanable priced. I'm in piggy heaven when I'm there.

Villa Nova is my favorite for the combination of food and atmosphere. I went there for Valentine's Day a couple years ago. You overlook the water, and the food was great (save room for dessert!). The price is pretty moderate compared to the rest of the places with that kind of a view.

I also like Prego (Irvine) and Il Fornaio (also Irvine), but I would take the views of the water over those two for a romantic date, especially if it's early in the relationship. Il Fornaio is the kind of place I'd go later in the relationship, and Prego is the kind of place I'd go on a group date or with my family. They're good, but they're less romantic.

Have a fun date! :o)

Well, I tried to get you specific websites, but the links don't go to the actual page, so...

1. Go to www.gayot.com
2. Click on the "Restaurants" link in the blue bar on the top of the page
3. Under featured cities, click "Orange County"
4. Enter in the "Restaurant Search" box: "Italian" for Cuisine, and a city name if you want a specific city

If you want to learn more about each restaurant, google the restaurant name and see if a homepage pops up or if other review sites pop up. Extra reviews are always nice. =]

Also, some of my friends went to Prego (in Irvine...which is Newport's neighboring city in case you didn't know) and enjoyed it.

Good luck.

Spaghetti Bender in Newport is good, but there is a restaurant called Amelia's on Balboa Island that has great Italian style seafood/pasta dishes.

If there is oil there. Incidentally, the World doesn't have any oil. The oil belongs to whoever obtains it, or purchases it. France may be a large wine producer, but I don't use any of it. What are the implications of that? It is our politicians who have stopped offshore drilling, and have stopped refinery building - all for the benefit of the big oil companies. The big oil companies don't care about these added expenses, as they pass them along to the consumer. They benefit by having government prevent any competition. A monopoly always involves government involvement.

There's a great hole-in-the-wall type restaurant that's in a strip mall (don't make that turn you away) that serves GREAT Italian. It's called Mangia Mangia. It's a hidden jewel in HB.

Lugattis in downtown HB. A favorite with the locals, it has good prices, great happy hour, and great food.

It is one street over from Main street near the police station.
