I'm just interested as there are always reports/surveys that show that 80% of Americans don't have a passport. Would be interested to know if that statistic is replicated here or holds only for the non computer literate areas of society.

Yes, I like to travel and I heard that they were changing the laws so that we would soon need passports to go to even Canada and Mexico. Plus my friend in Canada said that the bars up there would want my passport as ID and some would not accept a US drivers license.

I have traveled all my life and I used to be a travel agent. I live in the U.S. and have been to many countries.

I've probably had a passport for the past 20 years. I just looked at mine the other day. It expires this year.

Most Americans probably don't have passports, because they go only to Mexico or Canada. Until now, you didn't even need them on cruises going to Jamaica, Caymen Islands, Bahamas etc. Why put out all that money if you don't need to?

No, I don't have a passport, I live in Michigan, 10 minutes away from Canada, and pretty soon I won't be able to go there because I don't have one. They are too expensive, among other things.
