It must be a Pommy thing ( English )
they must have had a big factory in Manchester in England where they made all the linen sheets & blankets towells etc & the name stuck

where do you shop? i've heard really expensive ones called linen, but manchester? isn't that a town, we call 'em sheets or bed-sheets if you want to get southern.

We never call it manchester here. lt's just linen or bed sheets and sometimes blanket.
