Having lived in Hong Kong for 18 years - visits to China usually mean packing sandwiches.
Clients being clients though I've had the 'good' fortune to eat:
- Rat's head in clear soup
- Snakes bladder (this is mixed with Chinese wine)
- Silver Fox
- Turtle's (Terrapin) Blood (they chop the head's off at the table and pour the contents into the glass)
- Cat (minced - this was in the northern town of Dalian ... next door was the Dog restaurant!!!)
- The usual Sea Cucumbers, Cow's stomach, coagulated pig's blood, chicken's feet, fish eyes and duck's tongues (delicacies) and - one that really made me gag ... boiled stout!
I've always baulked at insects though.
But - everything needs to be placed in context - 50 years ago in China it was eating anything that moved or starvation. This era of deprivation still carries through to today.
Funny though - when I tell the Chinese that I've eaten Rabbit - they think I'm barbaric!

Some people eat frogs, rabbits, monkeys, cats, dogs and bugs.. And some people eat wierd parts of an animal like eyes, testicles, tounge, stomach, intestine... And some people eat shrimp, lobster, crab, mussel, octopus...etc...
I can't eat these things... It's disgusting for me :(( Wierdest animal i have ever eaten was calamary... I know maybe you will say that's not wierd but for me it is.
HOW CAN YOU EAT A CAT? THATS HORRIBLE!!!! I ALSO HEARD IN CHINA THEY EAT HUMAN EMBRYO... oh my sweet God!!!!!

dated this Thai chick once ..long time ago in service,she and her friends made pigs feet with very very hot sauce. ahhh
but I liked it
I had a Buffalo Burger once at a baseball stadium opening. yeah Buffalo meat.
meat on a stick from a street vendor on one drunken night in Central America..guys said it was monkee meat but I will never know for sure. correct that...many drunken nights.
One night the guy was sleeping ,the street vendor guy and i just helped myself and stood right there and ate it..had the whole crew busting a gut .

I didn't eat it because I'm too squeamish, but was at a banquet in Beijing where snake and chicken feet were served.

My best mate, who happens to be a bird.... took me a to an Aussie restaurant in copenhagen, and I had crocodile and a bit of her kangaroo steak. Very nice.
