Why did libs get so vindictive?

Nixon had no knowledge of the illegal activities.

Ford had the foresight to heal the nation and issue the pardon. It had nothing to do with libs being "compassionate".

Why was Monica-gate blown all out of proportion?

Hey, get out of the 70s, Brad! We have real problems to deal with today!

The biggest reason for Watergate and how large it became was Nixon himself. If he had just come out and said mistakes were made and he was sorry, it would never have become Watergate, but just an embarrasing footnote to history. Or he could have taken his wife's advice, and burned the tapes that eventually hung him. Instead he did everything he could to obstruct the investigations into the story until it became a national scandal and finally a crime for obstruction which demanded his resignation, or if he persisted his impeachment. By todays standards of conduct, what went on during Nixon would hardly be noticed. He bugged the democrats office while today illegal wiretaps are public policy.

Sam Ervin was no liberal, friend. An old school southern Democrat. You must be too young to remember or you are just blowing smoke.

Nixon was going to win that election, hands down. But typical of GOP dirty tricks, they tried to subvert the election laws to say nothing of the laws concerning breaking and entering, wire tapping and money laundering.

Nixon's error was the cover up. When you obstruct justice and have the FBI and attorney general participating in the hiding of felonies, that is a crime. That is why he was a hair's breadth from being impeached and he would have been convicted by the Senate.

Nixon got the pardon because of the " Nixon Tapes" not because of Ford`s foresight. Nixon`s paranoia prompted him to record every conversation he had. He basically blackmailed Ford, because Ford knew Nixon and Hoover had dirt on a hell of a lot of people which Nixon was all to willing to expose. Horrible f*cker that he was. He got a better deal then, than he would have done now, that`s for sure.

There are better questions to ask. If it weren't such a big deal, why did the Nixon administration go to such great lengths to cover it up? Why do some people condone dirty political tricks and lies, yet go hysterical over a president's personal sex life? If libs were really as vindictive as you say, why didn't Nixon go to jail? The evidence was certainly there to convict him.

Why are you so wrong in your question and other remarks? Nixon is the only other President in my lifetime that was worse than Bush. I'm not only talking about their policies I'm also referring to their utter and complete lack of respect for the law. The one thing both of these men have in common is their thinking that they are not included in having to follow the rule of law, they are the ones making those rules. Nixon found out just how wrong that thinking was and I think the same will happen with Bush. If Nixon had stepped up and taken responsibility the outcome may have been different, it was his insistence that he knew nothing that doomed him along with the proof of his tampering to try to cover up his involvement.

Just a little- what Sandy Burglar did and the laundry list of crimes of Clinton- who pardoned Marc Rich- makes a mockery out of the whole system.

Tapes recorded in Nixon's office indicate that you are 100% wrong. Nixon covered it up and failed miserably. If he wasn;t guilty as sin then why did he resign?

First of all I don't think you can really refer to 60's era democrats as liberals.

The tapes. Nixon sent his solicitor general to the supreme court basically stating that he had as much as Louis XVIII to keep his tapes private. Those tapes proved the President had prior knowledge, thus he stepped down.

Try again, jackass.

It wasnt' the burglary, it was Nixon's knowledge of and participation in the cover-up that led to his downfall.
