Having posted 293-7, the aussies are already struggling at 5-2 in the second over. Can England arrest their recent dire form and beat the World Champions Australia?

It's certainly possible. Good to see England finally getting some of their batting woes under control. Hey, Strauss didn't even get out to a dubious umpiring decision this time!

Of course, Australia's great advantage for quite some time now has been the enormous depth of their batting. Even with Gilchrist and Hodge gone, England still need to get rid of Hayden, Clarke, Hussey, Symonds and White - even Bracken, to some extent - before they get into the tail.

If Australia can consolidate to a decent position after 10-15 overs they can really push the run rate forward, especially if England revert to the sort of sloppy bowling and fielding we've seen earlier this summer. If England can maintain their discipline and momentum, and keep applying the pressure, they can at least give themselves a good chance of getting this match.

The other question is whether Australia aren't trying too hard because they'd prefer to meet England rather than NZ in the finals!
