the guy that lives downstairs ( who is also my landlord and friend ) is soooo tight that he pulled over on the side of a busy interstate highway to pick up a blanket he spotted on the side of the road. It was dirty and it had holes in it. He makes decent money. I'm pretty sure he can afford to purchase a new not holey blanket. He also picked out his patio furniture (a resin table and 4 chairs) from the garbage pile in front of someones house, brought it home, cleaned it up and uses it.

A friend of mine had a bf that was a freak about saving money. He went so far as to making her rinse out paper towels and laying them out flat to dry, so they could reuse them. Once she burned a piece of toast and tossed it in the trash, he actually got it out, scraped off the burnt stuff and ate it. You can just imagine the other types of things he would do. Needless to say, their relationship didn't last long.

My husband does up a budget each week and accounts for every last cent. There's NOTHING left over, not even to rent a dvd or something. If i spend even a single dollar, he's like "what did you spend that dollar on? you know we can't afford it!!" drives me insane.

And he wonders why our relationship is breaking down.....
