People had the tendency to take me seriously at a very young age, I'd say about 9 years old. It used to make me feel almost out of place, while everyone else my age was busy being a kid, I was busy acting and thinking (subconsciously, of course) like a mature adult.
I'd say at age 15 people should begin to take you seriously (so, good job mom!), by traditional standards, you're a teen now! =]

I was 52. But then I think the person was just toying with me. Actually, you need to show that you can make sound decisions and have a sense of responsibility. It has nothing to do with age. Another ting to think about is that too many people take themselves too seriously. Lighten up, make fun of the emperors clothes, enjoy life, look with a mirthful eye and find humor in every situation. Learn to laugh at yourself. When I die, I want a hearse with flames on it and a loud stereo playing "Another One Bites The Dust" while my funeral procession drives through town.

I was taken seriously as a child if I was serious about something. I am 45 now, and sometimes wonder if I am still capable of being taken seriously.

I'm 46 and I'm still waiting.
Seriously though. People will take you seriously when you are perceived as an adult, or after you have proven yourself to them. People RARELY take teenagers seriously. You've still got a ways to go yet. Sorry, but it is the truth.

i am 16 and trust me it is hard to have people take you seriously when they only think that you are still a kid. i find that when you are serious about the things you do and talk and you make sure that who you are talking to know that it is serious then that will get their attention. at any age a person doesn't have to be taken seeiously, but you have to be reasonable, patient, and make your points so that they understand you then you are taken seriously.
