The 5.5G Video was released at the same time as the 2G Nano, and the 2G Shuffle was released about a month later. Technically that means the current Shuffle is the newest iPod, but the Nano line is the newest of the four basic brands (iPod, Mini, Shuffle, and Nano). There is an upcoming iPhone that will have iPod functionality, but I'd consider it more a new product than an extension of the iPod family, as the primary motive for buying one will be to use as a cel phone due to the high price.
