self confidence! if you are confident enough you will dance anywhere and you wouldn't care how many are watching..
I'll share a story with you, I went to see a performance with my friend in her college.. I saw this women who was about 5'3 and weighted at least 200 pounds.. she came on stage and performed a solo belly dance.. yes you heard me right ..BELLY DANCE..can you imagine? with her stomach out and everything and I mean she was REALLY dancing..jumping up and down and shaking it...
she looked like she didn't have a care in the world about what people would think or say about her.. that was actually really moving and ..encouraging. :)

dance like nobody's watching. when i was 12, i started dancing around the pool table all by myself, with nobody watching.
after a while, i got some confidence in the way i moved. eventually, i got up the courage to dance in public, pretending that nobody was watching.
when i really gained confidence, i wanted people to watch. practice makes perfect.

You gotta love dancing to be able to do it. If you don't know and want to learn how to dance, practice at home, take dancing lessons. Little by little, you'll realize that you're a great dancer and instead of been shy, you're going to want to be the center of the attention.

Helps to go with an outgoing friend--or friends. Also, stop caring what other people think. It's a hard thing to do, but once you start thinking, "I couldn't give a SH** what those people are thinking," then it's easier to just to let your hair down and party--sans the booze.
Remember the people who are sitting down and watching you, are doing ONLY that. Let'em watch you rock the world!

just do it because if you dont then you build even more of a crowd just waiting for you to dance. so if you do dance i.e. jump right into it with no hesitation then things should (attention wise) turn out with your moves as the focal point and not when and how you move.

When you get out there to dance, ONLY think about the music, the beat, feel it, then just move with it. Dont try to dance, just move with the music!!! And who ever doesnt like it, can just kiss thisss ( l )

Doesn't take much. Gradually move your parts. If you just go with hips and shoulders you can't really go wrong. When you get more confident you can get into arms and legs.
