I see on Yahoo Answers people using fancy stastics to prove utter nonsense. Do others believe what they hear when statistics are used?

Only gullible people. For every "statistic" you see I can promise you with very little digging you could find another "statistic" in direct opposition to the previous one. Meaning, anyone can go online & find a "statistic" to prove their point, regardless of how asinine their point may be.

"Statitians" are very valuable and concise.

Dunno about the statistics you're seeing ... but when it's tied to a web site that is creditable, then yes, it makes a statement more valid.
