Yes, this is primarily due to the fact that the proven shape of the earth is spherical; therefore if a line were to be drawn for trillions of miles (in propotions that would technically describe the line as straight) it would naturally follow the spherical shape of the earth.

it follows the curve of spacetime. since niearly all spacetime is warped or curves in some manor, the line is not straight. from a person trillions of miles away perpandicular to the line it would looked curved. to someone standing at one edge of the line and looking to the other it would appear straight.

there are many different geometries out there: euclidean, non-euclidean, .... then you get into space-time. a lot of things are different between these.
