There are five defined fonts for HTML - serif, sans-serif, monospaced, cursive, and fantasy. In addition, you can often count on common fonts such as arial, georgia, times roman, verdana, etc. You can list multiple fonts, and the browser will use the first one it finds, so you can specify or style="font-family: trebuchet, verdana, sans-serif"

My favorite and safe website fonts, in order of preference:
Verdana, Arial, Times New Roman, Helvetica, sans-serif
So you could actually just use this tag:
Some Text
When you use a font tag with multiple fonts, the way it works is like this: It will try to use the first font listed. If the user's computer has that font installed on their computer, then it displays it with that. If that font is not installed on the user's computer, then it tries to display it with the 2nd font in the font tag, etc, etc. In the event, none of the font tags are installed on the user's computer, then it uses the default tag (which is set on IE, by Tools, Internet Options, Font button).

it incredibly is not a sturdy concept to apply non generally used fonts. you may, yet everybody that would not have the Kristen ITC font put in they gained't see it. i've got not got that font and in all threat like ninety 8% of everybody else would not the two. it would revert to a generally used font, in all threat cases roman or some sans-serif.

I think Arial looks the most modern on a website. Something such as Times New Roman looks too outdated, IMO. Arial is installed on everyone's computer, unless it came out of the stone age.

I've heard that Georgia is a pretty good font to use on a web page that's pretty common across platforms.

The standard Microsoft fonts. Just remember though getting too flashy makes the site look trashy.
