In his own way I think he is. The Stand/the apocalypse. The Dark Tower. Isn't God at the top of the tower? Or did he abandon us and Roland and let the beams fall?

Yes he probably could. It has all the elements he does well, violence, lots of characters, adventure.
Can you imagine how fascinating he could make the book of exodus alone?
And don't even get me started on his rewrite of the Apocalypse.
