I accidently lost one of my guppies down the drain whilst cleaning the tank! I'm so upset. I quickly opened up the S bend in the drain under the sink but he/she was gone! The other 3 are extremely "stressed" almost like they are swimming round looking for the other one. I cannot believe it.
Should i buy a replacement? I am waiting on delivery of 22L tank. Should i wait? :(

Wiat for the bigger tank. Stressed behavior isn't due to losing a tankmate. It is due to poor water quality or diseases. Do you test your water at all? Swimming sporadically can be a sign of ammonia or nitrite poisoning.

When you do a water change, why not syphon it into a bucket so you can make sure there are no fish in there? I have accidentally syphoned small fish before, but not lost any as they turn up in the bucket.

Their fish! They swim in a bowl and haven't a clue what's going on. Just throw some cherrios in there and they wouldn't know the difference. It's not like you are dealing with pet dolphins.
