My trash can will not work at ALL. Everytime I put something in the trash can and try to empty it, I get this error message:

"Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occured (Error code - 8062)"

I've rebooted my computer numerous times, I've done Disk Utility and try to find as much updates for my computer as possible and it's still giving me problems.

TrashIt doesn't work for me either.

So basically it seems like this whole computer is going to crap when it's not even a year old yet.

Has anyone else expeirenced this or know what the hell is going on?

Any help will be very much appreciated,
Thank you.

What was the source of the item in the trash? Did it come from an external drive or networked computer? If so, reconnect the source of the file and empty the trash.

If the file originated on your Mac's internal hard drive, try renaming the item in the trash. If it is called "whatever.jpg" just change the name to "abc.jpg". Don't use any wierd characters or spaces in the name. Now empty the trash.

If that doesn't work, get a Mac genius to help you who knows how to use the Terminal command line program. There you can delete the ".trash" directory that is an invisible folder in your user home folder. That will remove everything in the trash.

Try starting up in classic and then empty the trash.

'Classic' handles your Mac OS 9 applications and is under the control of Mac OS X. It exists for backwards compatibility with applications that have not yet been ported to Mac OS X. As of this writting the 'Classic' applications which we support that have not yet been ported to OS X are Microsoft Office, Netscape, and Alpha.

'Classic' takes time to start and if you are often using 'Classic' applications you will want to have 'Classic' started automatically when you first log-in. This will speed up your 'Classic' application start-ups and improve overall reliability of 'Classic' applications.
To start 'Classic' at login:
1. Go to the System Preferences application (under /Applications/System Preferences).
2. Start the 'Classic' preferences application with a single-click on the 'Classic' icon.
3. Check the check-box 'Start up Classic on login to this computer.'
4. Close the System Preferences application on the upper left hand corner of the window by clicking on the button with the 'x' symbol.
After following these steps and you login next time the 'Classic' environment will be started automatically
