When you formatted your hard drive, it didn't erase. What you need is a utility called RIP (Recovery is Possible). You can get i here:

Yes and No. Depends on many things. Say you have formatted and reinstalled the OS. And the sector of the Hard Disk which you have stored your photos is still now occupied then you can use recovery tools to get back your photos.
The process goes like this. When ever you write a file to disk the starting location of the files is written in a sector and that address is maintained in Table of Content (TOC). When you format the TOC is erased so now for the computer all the Hard Disk is free since the TOC Says so.
Now what a Data Recovery program does is reads the Hard Disk sector by sector and try to put the files back together.
Go to www.download.com and serch for some data recovery tools and get your photos back.
Most share ware tools would allow only 20 MB or 25 MB of recovery.
Still need any further clarifications please get back to me.

It is quite possible that you can retrieve your pictures depending on several things.
If you just did a standard format then the data is still there, the OS just doesn't know how to find it.
If you have written new data to the disk then this will have overwritten some of the data but you may still be able to retrieve some of your pictures.
You will need a bit of software as stated above and some time.
You can pay someone to do this for you but as the disk is not damaged you may as well give it ago your self.
Good luck

Yes, first. stop using the drive.
Data is retrievable until the drive has been low level formatted 7 times. usualy this takes a few grand and a huge data restoration company.
i assume you did a quick format.. this doesent actually format your computer. it just erases the headers of the files. so windows caint see them. they are still phisically on the drive.
there is software that can read each sector of the drive, and can tell if there is a file there. one good one is called "get data back" it usually costs about 60 bucks. im me and i can help you get a copy if you dont have 60 bucks

Maybe. Formatting - whatever type - does not destroy the data and it can usually be recovered but stop using the hard drive.
You can use a data recovery company, which is expensive but pretty reliable. Or you can use legal software off the internet. Theres a few programs at Snapfiles.com that offer to do this.

There are ways of recovering data, formatted or not.
Best not to use the hard disk till you've got a definate answer, or until you get the photos back.
Try Recuva (www.recuva.com). Worth a shot.
I know there are ways of recovering, just that I dont know many.

Unforchently, since you have formatted your hardrive, you CANNOT Get you pictures back, unless you have backed them up before?
See your digital camera, sometimes it keeps records of old pictures, its a bit like a computer, it will store on there, even though you have deleted it, it goes to a reclying bin!
So try the camera again, search high and low!
Happy Finding, keep me posted

Yes you can
I do it all the time, this is why companies who have confidential data physically destroy the drive.
You can purchase software that will scan the drive on show previouse partitions, folders and files.
You may not get them all back, but it can be done.

To download Recuva for free you can click here http://j.mp/1pka8OI
If you've accidentally deleted some important files, don't freak out: try using Recuva and you'll be able to restore them!

There are all kinds of software tools that let you unformat a hard drive.
I have no idea what operating system you are using the link below is for xp. If you are using another operating system, look up "Unformat Windows ME" or "Unformat Windows 98" etc
Here is a list of them
