My computer DVD Rom drawer and my disk drive drawer are both stuck closed. Is it something I can do myself with a little W.D. 40 or do I need to take it in? How much do you think it will cost to get them unstuck??

most drives have a small hole on the front where you can stick a paper clip in and manually open it, this might free it up enough to fix it. disk drives arent that much so the most it should cost is for the replacement+ labor. but changing drives is easy and you could o it yourself, even with little computer experience.

Hello,

NO WD40, NEVER NEVER NEVER for a pc
or any thing "electrical".

This door sticking problem happens sometimes when you have asked your computer to do too many things at the same time; or when a CD or other application just clogs up your resources.
Close all your open programs, and Restart you computer
one or two times.
That should clear the problem, and the CD drive should open again.

The next step is to "delete" the drive in your Device Manager,
Right click MyComputer > select Properties >
> tab Hardware > button Device Manager
scroll down and right click the Drive > delete or Uninstall
... and THEN
Restart your computer so that it will "see" the CD drive as new hardware and XP will automatically reinstall it for you;
making all things work.

The next step is as to try to manually pop it open
with a paper clip in the small hole provided on the front of your drive by the door.

yes ofcourse i have faith in you.

heres the step.

1. Check if its still powered up or still functioning but just stuck. If yes the proceed to step 2.

2. Get your tools to open up the CD and DVD roms.

3. Take your 2 drive from your computer.

4. Open up the 2 drives by unscrewing it.

5. Plug the CD/ DVD roms power supply to your PC just to allow it to eject.

6. PLace cd inside the opened CD/DVD roms then eject it.

7. Put it all back in your all good

First check if the lights are blinking when u try to access.. if not hen there is no power going to the drives... then u can check if the power connectors are connected properly ...

second .. if there is power .. then it could be a motor or belt failure.. u can try ejecting by pushing a small pin into the pin hole provided... but it would be better if you can take it to ur dealer if they are still in the warranty period...
