My son's first word was "helicopter"..no lie..the boy wouldn't talk, but one evening I went outside to show him a helicopter in the sky and he said...

"il a opter" "il a opter" "il a opter"

And to think..I would have been happy with "da da"

How funny! Smart kid...

MY first words were "cookie" and "Boo!"...so says my baby book. =P

My daughter is still barely getting the hang of it all, so she just barely said her first words "Mama" and "Yay!" just the past week or two. =) But it's so cool to hear her try!

I said daddy. I started talking early because I was the only child on both sides of the family for years. I have been told by everyone that I could talk in sentences at my 1st b-day..... I don't remember but they say so. Which..I do talk a lot.
:P

Well, my mom says my first word, was "Eric" it is my brother's name. We were close growing up and still today, so I guess it would make since. But I knew plenty of words after that because I read at an early age.

Horse. I was outside in a stroller and one of our horses got out. It came up and put it's big old nose right in my chest. My folks found me then saying "Horse! Horse!" They said that was my first word and my eyes were real big for three days.
