Yes.What they do is they stay still in a certain spot usually at night and take short sporadic naps.2 minutes the most. They wake up for a little bit then they do it again several times.

it's a good question and a tough one to call most all fish spend time in an energy-saving state that can be called "rest", and we might even call their behavior "sleep", though it is probably different than "sleep" in most land animals. Many fish "rest" or "sleep" during the day and are active at night instead, but almost all fish sleep.
There are some animals that never stop swimming, like many species of shark, however, they HAVE to keep moving to push water through their mouths in order to breathe, and they may still sleep while moving,we just don't know yet.

Yes, all fish sleep. They do not have eyelids so we find it difficult to comprehend an animal 'sleeping' with their eyes wide open. Just as we breathe without consciously controlling it, sleeping fish tend to either sink or continue 'swimming' even in their sleep. It'll be easy to notice when they're asleep after a while because they aren't behaving normally.
Dolphins (which are mammals) sleep with only half their brains at a time! So they're techincally awake all their lives..

yes, they sleep, and it is just like sleep walking. the person isnt aware of the walk, but the brain navigates for them. same with fish, they swim for a few minutes at a time and recover, then wake up. kinda like cat napping.

I think they do because you will see them just sitting in the water not swimming around. I think that this is their sleeping time even though they can't close their eyes. If nothing else, they are resting.

yep. all living breathing things (with the exeption of plants) need to sleep to regain their energy. and the same with fish! all though they may not close their eyes you can tell because they wont move and they will just stay in one place. sometimes they lean agianst the tank!

Yes! All fish sleep. I have goldfish, and they sleep. Even though they cannot close their eyes, they still sleep! I love to watch my sweet goldfish sleep.
Cheers!
