i have an almost white pearlscale goldfish. few days ago i noticed:
- a sore/ cut on one of its side
- a reddish bruised patch on the other side.
- the base of her tail is also slightly bruised (reddish)
- her whole head is also this reddish bruised color!!

she was not herself a few days ago before i noticed all this but now she seems to be back to her normal active self eventhough all this bruising has not gone off. what is it and what should i do?!

This is from ammonia poisoning and I have dealt with it just do a 50% water change and then do a 25% water change every week after that and add some aquarium salt and you should be doing ok!!

Sounds more like costia or septicemia to me. Usually when you notice either of these diseases, its too late. But you could try to slowly raise the temperature to 78F, costia dies around 77. Add some maracyn plus as well and some aquarium salt.

How big is this tank? Do you test the water? These question are very important as a large, cycled tank is important for goldfish health.
