I finished a BA with a 2.2 GPA, mostly because I was hungry. Am now finishing a top 10 Ph.D. program with a 3.95 GPA. I lost confidence as an undergraduate, but then had several years of distinguished work experience that gave me my confidence. (As did my acceptance letter). Did I lose a little time? Sure. But the experience was very valuable! College today can be for anyone. Just work hard, "find yourself", like I did, and go for it! You can do it!

Well there's nothing that'll make you understand something that you don't get in the first place except you and maybe drugs. How about you try to get into class tutorials, try different ways of studying, get easier high school level textbooks over your subjects, google tutorials and simplified bases for what you're learning. Ultimately college is a shock, it's up to you to pull through. But there's always the fact that college may not be for you or a different teacher/college would be better for you, there's always a reputable trade school and going through one can give you just a big salary as a graduate if you put a lot of effort.

One need not be smart or dump to attend college, but it is the effort you put into it (all ur academic works) that will tell.
Try and get into college, be studious and all endeavour to attend extra tutorial classes if possible form a studying group. And always read above the teachers/ lecturers inorder for you to be able to ask good and reason questions where you don't understand.
At the same time you can forego some things that are not relevant and make good friends that are willing to help you with your academic works.
Nobody is a genius, study what you like, what you know you enjoy and find pleasure in doing.
I wish you all the best as you make the right chose.

Why would you say such a thing. If you feel you have a problem with taking certain classed start out slow and take like 2 or 3 classes instead of going full time. Also maybe start out at a smaller school with less students so you can maybe have more one on one with other students and professor's. But it can be done. I know from my whole personal experience. I went back to college when I was 28 and got my accounting degree even though I don't use it. I decided to do that 6 months after I had brain surgery to cure epilepsy I had for 28 years. Also my husbands niece is legally blind and she is 20 now and is in college so you can do just about anything you just need to set your mind straight and just take one step at a time. Like I said even if it is just doing a small amount of classes to get started and see what you can handle and what your limit is. Good luck you can do it!!!!!!!!

Any college counselor would want to know the following:
1) Precisely _why_ do you want to attend college? If it's mainly for job training, or to please your family, please reconsider for a while.
2) Do you like formal schooling?
3) Are you capable of working on your own, in a relatively lonely setting?
4) Why do you think you're not smart enough?
After you've considered all these things, go visit a college and talk to some of the teachers there. Walk through the place and see what's going on: sit quietly in back of some of the classes, with the professor's permission (they usually say it's okay) and then think about it some more. Good luck.

Go for it. I am almost 50 and will finish my degree in 2007. I go part time because I have teenagers at home. Start out slow and remember, your personal life will be on hold for the time being. But the question to ask yourself is, what is more important? My college degree or having fun.

I had a 2.85 GPA in high school...10 years ago...and I am going back to school and doing well. It isn't as hard as people make it out to be. If you have the basic levels of education, you will do fine. Go to a local community college and ask them about their placement exams. Take those, then see where it takes you. You may be surprised at what courses you are able to test in to

It doesn't matter how smart or dumb you are, what's most important is how hard you try. As long as you put in 100% into all your work, you are bound to pass many classes in college.
