For centuries the human race has claimed to be the most advances species on this planet. But when compared with animals that just have pure instincs, we have somewhat proven to be less advanced? Sure we know how things work, we can build things, but yet we destory our own habitat knowingly? We kill for reasons other than survival? Answer this question.....if we are the most advanced....why do we still possess animalistic qualities? what are some ways that we can truely become the advanced race that we believe ourselves to be?

As for two of my typos....my only typos. I think it is important not for us to get confused about what is important here. I am not submitting a paper to my college professor so it should not be important whether I make spelling or grammatical errors....it is simply irrelevant.

For people that are thinking I am expressing an opinion......I am not. This is simply what it is supposed to be. My attempt at providing a place for people to debate on a subject that is interesting to me. I have no concrete opinion on this subject but I do believe that we could take better care of our habitat, even though I know I have also been apart of helping to destroy it as well.

Wouldn't Rams killing eachother in mating season be survival? Survival of the fittest? Ha.... I made you think!

"More advanced" does not necessarily mean "better". It's not like we sloughed off all that was "bad", or "lesser". It should be taken as more complex, with a higher potential for good or evil.
ADDED: Hi, Beaverscanttalk. Re instinct: I know it is a lower and older brain process, but I don't see its tight connection with lower education or dumbness to the exclusion of more positive or highly prized instinct-based behaviour. In other words, I don't think that the reason we still have instinct is expressly for the weakest of us to have some behaviour to fall back onto...

Honestly, I don't see how you can't see the human race as an 'advanced species.'
1) Our habitat is not the forest, or the plains or the geographical location where our 'home' is located. Our habitat is our house and our environment is suburbia, town, cities etc. We aren't destroying our habitat as much as we are building more of it. Humans don't adapt to their surroundings, we adapt our surroundings to fit us. Theres one reason why we're advanced.
2) And for 'kill for other reasons than survival'? Animals kill eachother all the time for reasons other than survival. Lions kill eachother for dominance of a pride, rams will break eachother's necks by ramming one another during mating season. We just do it with guns and normally (sometimes anyway) for reasons to insure our survival (protecting homes, shooting a store clerk to feed one's family that night...not a 'moral' reason but a reason nonetheless).
Another thing you should take into account is how much things have changed in the short time we've been *here.* I mean, just in the 20th century. 1904, we have the Wright Brothers with their first plane that goes like 200 meters. 65 years, just 65 years, we have a rocket and have men bouncing around on the moon. That is *insane* as far as advances goes. 65 years is *nothing.* You can do that with just about anything with technology. We have advanced so fast that our biological selves haven't had time to 'catch up.' We still have instincts and such that we had 200 years ago when they were necessary...those just don't go away in a generation. Takes a long time. Thats a big reason why we're so stressed out/anxious as a species. We're so use to looking out for dangers and now, there is so many new things around that our instincts don't know how to cope besides just pumping out more adrenaline and generally stressing us out.
Um...I think thats it.

First, you are making too many generalizations. We do not all knowingly destroy our "habitats" nor do we all kill for reasons other than survival. We are the advanced race. We have animalistic instincts but we are the only race that is able to control those insincts! We don't have to try to become an advanced race, we are! You don't see animals coming up with cures for illnesses or diseases but we do, both for ourselves and for the animals you are claiming that we are less than. The theory that we have proven to be less advanced than animals is ludicrus and if you don't believe so than go have this conversation with a monkey and see how far you get. By the way, animals do destroy one anothers habitats and they do kill for other than survival. Have you never seen a well fed cat play with a mouse until it's dead and then just leave it?

I don’t really get your logic we are the most advanced species. You referring more to the less educated when you say we have behavior dependant on instinct. And even if everyone was like that how would possessing that nature exclude us from being the most advanced species. We are the most advanced species mentally and physically. But we are dumbing down ourselves becoming less advanced by the minute due to poor eduation.

I think we are merely hairless apes. Dolphins and whales have a larger brain to mass ratio than humans. Most people don't seem to ever really think, or see. Too busy talking about themselves and grabbing "stuff". But we can be buddhas if we try very hard. We can be saints. True advancement will come from effort in that direction. But we will still be animals. Animals is what we are.

I think people believe humans are the most advanced species because of our thumbs, and because we have the ability to say "I am". We are aware. However being aware seems to be our biggest downfall because when you can think "I", "Me", or "My" you end up wanting. And it's peoples greed that has lead to the destruction of mother earth.

Human beings do need to learn a lot more about compassion and sympathy (hopefully, before we destroy our own habitat).

To be truthful with you, even in spite of the undeniable fact that some human beings can merely come over and say "howdy, good-looking" not all women are able to return over to a good-looking guy and merely say hi. section human beings needs to and the different is merely too-darn shy to even circulate and in the same time demanding of your adverse reaction to our attempt (merely like adult adult males are demanding of the lady's rejection)... this may be how a number of "shy-types" think of (based of path on the each and each guy or woman), "could i omit and say hi? Or, wait untill he will do it? what's he going to think of? Do i glance o.k.? Is my hair ok? My God, what am I donning? he will never even look at me dressed like this, not even affirming to assert 'hi' back... may be I could merely pass away him on my own, he will think of i'm the two a nut-case or desperate... And, i'm in all threat not his variety." That and a super form of different questions that could arise interior a 2nd as quickly as we glance at a guy we adore, yet are undecided of a thank you to attitude him. It would not advise that we don't decide to, it incredibly is in basic terms some human beings the two have never finished this in the past or are undecided of a thank you to behave in any cituation. despite if, it makes us incredibly chuffed while a guy we've been gazing for the previous 0.5 hour techniques us and says hi to us, or, to the particular one in our little group of girls. it incredibly is something that makes our hearts at cases to pass a beat and for a chop up 2nd think of that it incredibly is a dream once you got here to visit to us... even no count if it incredibly is to assert, "hi. How are you?" :) i desire i've got replied your question :)
