You could say the world will end when the Sun goes Red Giant and swallows Earth. But the matter and atoms of Earth will then only be transformed, so in a way Earth will last. By then "the world", which I define as the complex interdependant web of life, from animals to humans and plants, will be long gone. More urgent and serious is the issue of climate change being created by human activity - it won't destroy Earth, but it will destroy masses of species, make life extremely unpleasant and possibly not sustainable for humans over much of the planet. Real action is urgent, but resisted by politicians and others like George Bush, because it involves deep and fundamental change and the loss of much we all value in the West - especially the privileges of the rich societies and individuals. So now it's postponed on the grounds of the economy - ignoring the fact that all of the economy rests ultimately on Earth's ecological systems and resources. Meanwhile some babble about various ideas of God, and others murder each other for old and new fueds in places like Iraq and Palestine etc. So the real worry is us, our ignorance and stupidity, and our avoidance of whatever takes mental effort, or discomforts us; and yes we may end the civilised world as we know it. But as Pablo Casals said "The situation is hopeless. We must take the next step".

It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk apacolpse.
Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).
The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.
Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask when is the apacolypse, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.
Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers.

it incredibly is bull**** ok, i've got replied this way of question maximum of cases on right here, and each and each time it amazes me how gullible everybody is. My skills are that, i spent 3 and a 0.5 years cataloguing and analyzing temples and structures in Belize's. besides the reality that i'd possibly never say i'm an expert, i did have the respect of working with those that had worked on such web pages for over 20 now and back 30 years. i be conscious of as reality that not on or in or around any Mayan temple or shape or in any of the 4 codices that are in existence, or the calender did the Mayans write that the international might substitute, end, or incredibly be altered in any way or sort on any given date. on the choice the Mayans believed that existence substitute into keeps, never ending, a cycle that never stopped. on the 20-12-2012 the thirteenth cycle will end, on the 21-12-2012 the 14th cycle will initiate the only distinction this time is we have not have been given any Mayan clergymen around immediately to jot down out a clean calender and that's all. In remaining i might like if everybody that declares the Mayans suggested something to the choice please might they tell me on or wherein temple or shape it fairly is may be stumbled on. through fact i may be very attracted to deed. To be precise the thirteenth b'ak'tun or cycle will end on 12.19.19.17.19 (Mayan time) December 20, 2012, observed by the beginning up of the fourteenth b'ak'tun or cycle, 13.0.0.0.0,(Mayan time) on December 21, 2012. To the Mayans existence substitute right into a never ending cycle.

I heard that it's gonna end in 2040. I don't believe that tho cuz that's not very far away... If the world ever ends, I don't think that it'll end for a very long time. I think it may even take billions of yrs b/f that happens. I think it'll only be 100s if not 1000s of yrs for HUMANS to be gone tho.

Yes, the world will end. The sun will exhaust its hydrogen and begin fusing helium. It will swell to a Red Giant and swallow the Earth. Humans will probably have gone extinct long before that.

Yes it will end, but you wont be around to see it. And the 'Human beings' will have long gone into space before that event occurs! Have a real lot of good days! Lol.

The world as we know it will end when God sees
fit to bring it to an end. If the world had already ended,
neither of us would be around for this conversation.
I would be in Heaven and I hope you would be with
me. Those not in Heaven would be in Hell....and
despite what some may say...that Hell will not be
on earth.

Yes and Yes. Yes it will end because Jesus said it would and Yes it has ended for humans because, God encompasses all existance everything that has been and everything yet to come. Simply put tomorrow has already happened in the eyes of God.

Yes the world will end some day. If you look at the facts and scientific evidence. Sort of a bummer. If you are living, then life's only just begun.

the world will never end n neither will it ever end for us humans because u must have noticed that life just keeps moving irrespective of whatever happend..........it is different if v r unable to accept that life moves on and go into a mental state where we cannot accept change........it is also seen that irrespective of any religion when a person dies the body goes back to earth in any form and thus the process of life begins...when the body goes back to the atmosphere as soil plants originate from it then animals eat plants human eat animals they die thus going back to dust.............practically life never ends............but it's just for one to accept that life will move on.........even if as predicted if life on eath does end there will always be a new beginning............
