Get your car to operating temp and check the fluid level of the tranny. Most vehicles add line is at one pint which is 8oz.
If the fluid level is at or below this mark I would put in the can and not worry because you are going to leak some of it out.
While it is true that you do not want to over fill any liquids used in vehicles I do not believe you are over filling enough to damage anything in your case.

If you overfill the transmission you Can damage it. Do NOT OVERFILL, but the additive may cause you to wipe the band clutches out and cause the transmission to stop working altogether. in fact if you overfill our even have a transmission under filled by a pint it will cause shifting problems, CHECK ANY Auto manufacture and they will tell you so. If the transmission is slipping take it to a shop and see if they can adjust the bands and see if it will get you by till you can afford to fix it right, Be very careful with additives and ask a transmission shop if it is good or not if they don't recommend using it then I would not do so you may be walking.

Don't overfill simply means that once you add the 15 ounce can to the transmission fluid to make sure not to add more than what you are suppose to of transmission fluid to your car in total. I would strongly advise you to change the transmission seals and replace the gaskets to insure the life of that transmission altogether or else somewhere down the line it will fail you forever.

If your trans is slipping, you're gunna need an overhaul/replacement. Adding that type of thing will prolong it a few days or weeks, if it helps at all.
Cars hold anywhere from 3-8 quarts of trans fluid, depending on the make/model. adding 15 ozs of fluid won't hurt. If its leaking, you're probably short anyway. To be the safest, check the trans fluid, with the engine running.

I would just let the transmission leak down until it gets to the "add" mark and then add this stuff and it should bring it back up to the "full" mark. But it is a bad idea to overfill your transmission.

If the transmission isn't overful already, you can't hurt it with 15 ounces. If the tranny still slips after 200 miles the bands are probably going. Major job
