i love planning fun menus :)

if he's a carnivore (like my husband) do steak. i've found that organic food stores have really good steaks at the counter. do a fun rub like olive oil, garlic and pepper. or marinate in dressing or a store bought marinade (the jack daniels ones rae good).

mashed potatoes are always a big hit at my house, especially the garlic ones made with little red potatos.

one year i bought the pillsbury breadstick dough. made the sticks into open heart shapes and rolled them in parmesan cheese/italian herb mix. that was fun.

and of course, desert should be you ;)

It's not necessarily what you make that matters, it's how the setting is. If it's for a boyfriend/husband try and make the setting as romantic as possible. Dim the lights, light some candles on the table and make the dinner look fancy. Try puting a red table cloth with some white cloth napkins with the silverware on top.

Now for the dinner, it's best to make a 3 course meal. Try something like a Salad as an appetizer and make it look nice. Put in the lettuce, then the dressing, then the crutons and whatever else you'd like to add on top. For the main course try some sort of meat like Chicken, top it with some mushroom soup mix and put some garnish around the plate. As a side put rice all surrounding the chicken in a heart shape. Then for desert, Try something Chocolate. I recommend making a Chocolate Moose, or Chocolate Gelato.

Good Luck

If its for your carnivorous boyfriend/husband or perhaps yourself, find a heart shaped cookie cutter (a metal one would work best) and cut out heart shape steaks. I think its more comedic than romantic....but its a steak for crying out loud!!!!! Also add a bit of red food colouring to mashed potatoes!!

Either make his favorite, or order it from a restaurant and present it nicely at home (i.e. candles etc)... and wear less clothing than usual, he'll like that no matter how/what the food is

have a theme, probably red, men are suckers when it comes to food, spaghetti = red, desert... something like strawberry ice-cream = red, and perhaps you can be corny... and bake a cake in a heart shape... haha... and make a card... compose your own poem for him... that way its all real.. p/s: don't forget candles and background music
