The Smurfs could be argued to be representative of any number of things, that there are any number of hidden messages behind the Smurfs. But I don't think that the Smurfs were anything more than a cartoon for children.

I don't think so darlin. The smurfs are more like a tribe (Papa Smurf being the elder wise chief.) all working together for the common good of the village. I guess American indians are commies too in your thinking huh?
