I am looking for reasons to continue in college beyond the simplicity of a cookie cutter framework of americas social expectations. I care not for the soldiers life. It was overall depressing but very educational on other cultures.

Is there any respect for dead end jobs like factory workers? Without them our economy would crash?
Hard to live (noble) Vs easy to die (honor)

becuase you need to live through the consequences of your ideas, justify them , back them up with actions.
so much is left unsaid by dying for them, truth be told if you die for your idea chances are that your idea will be misinterpted or misunderstood.....

Living for an idea is hard because you have to keep trying to achieve that idea or goal. Of course there are people who oppose certain issues, that is why it is easy to die for an idea. This issue have been encountered many times in European history(years before 1500 AD). But if you believe in something that you think is right, go ahead and pursue it.
It is hard work and perseverance that will help you reach your idea. Who knows, you could be the next Thomas Edison.

Well, neither is easy! But living for an idea or ideal requires constant focus, commitment and hard work. The drama and the short duration of the act of dying have that going for them.
ADDED: Just saw your add-on. Speaking of drama!!
Now look here young'un. Education and poverty are not even good metaphors for life and death.

Living and dying are hard or easy for different individuals. Dying for an idea probably isn't an easy thing to do, but it's hard to evaluate because those who have died for an idea haven't come back to tell us about the experience...while everyone who has lived for an idea has continued to talk about it. The question gets back to whether it is easier to live or die...and I think both have their problems.

coz' living for an idea needs courage....buddy. If you fight harder and achieves your target then no one is more happier than you. Also, it will spread happiness around. But if you achieves and then dies for your idea then you will be admired........but then who know that you can achieve more ideas that other people can't think off.
In other case, if you fail to achieve your idea but remains alive then you can try for that again.....as you know that what mistake you have done in past and you can rectify them. Otherwise if you fails to achieve your idea and dies for that....then.....who cares.
So, the moral is that..........you are finding it harder becoze.....when we loose our heart from something then we think that "I can't do this" and gets frustrated. But my friend.......that is the time when one have to show his courage to fight against the odds.
Just look out for the solutions rather then crying on the faliures.
Hope you have understood.
NO ONE KNOWS, WHAT HE CAN DO....TILL HE TRIES !!

Because in death the struggle to fight and push ahead ends, but to live every day and live for your idea's is a uphill battle that many don't win.
