Black History Month? Why not White History Month?

Question

Blacks can have their Black History Month...but whites can't. Blacks can get free college for not doing anything..whites can't.
etc. etc. etc.
If we don't let the Blacks have these things, they say we are discriminating. But aren't they discriminating us by not letting us have those things too? don't say we havent tried cause we have.

The only reason the Blacks make a living here is because of the Whites....if that weren't true then why can't the African people over in Africa come up with the same technologies as whites? They have to have help from everyone else. If we can do it, why can't they?
and don't say they don't have the technology......we didn't either to begin with, someone had to start it and they can do just that.

not to mention ALL the other races that deserve recognition too.

Hey I don't have an answer for you...but just wanted to say sorry for all the bad responses you're getting. Don't you hate when people say "not to be rude, but you're unintelligent." It's kind of like when people say "No offense, but..." and then you don't even want to hear the rest because you know it's an insult. But I understand your question...it's been in my mind for a while too. It's just a simple, inquisitive question that was derived from curiosity rather than racism...but some people won't ever believe that. But what can ya do?

You're wrong, you can get free college, you have to do well in school and get good grades and you can get paid to go to college. You can apply for grants and scholarships. Anyone can do that.

Please don't say that the only reason Blacks make a living here is because of whites. All you are doing is showing your ignorance and lack of education.

When you ask why people over in Africa can't come up with the same technologies we have... think about what you are asking.

Third world countries aren't called third world countries for nothing. They have limited resources, limited commercialized products, limited wealth, war lords who control everyone, little opportunity for advancement other than sending their children here for college (where they do BETTER than children educated in America) they become doctors and lawyers and teachers.

The technology question could be posed at whites as well. Why are the Chinese and Japanese producing far superior technology than whites? It's not because we don't have the same technology.

It's all racist no matter which group you chose to single out. You asked why we don't have a white history month? Because history as a whole was recorded for white men by white men.
Why don't we have a women's history month?

We should just have a human history month and forget all our differences and the walls that we put up and embrace each other as human beings.

For you to say that the only reason blacks make a living here is because of whites is sad. I mean, blacks did not ask to be here, they were forcefully brought over here, and many of the major american technological inventions of this country are by blacks...

Blacks invented the Air-Conditioning Unit, Almanac, Automatic Cut-Off Switch, Blood Plasma Bag, Cellular Car Phone, Door Knob, Door Stop, Elevator, Fire Escape Ladder, Fire Estinguisher, Gas Mask, Golf Tee, Typewriter, Cornharvester, Railway Signal, Telephone Transmitter, Traffic Light, Tricycle, Ice Cream, Gas Heater, Clothes Dryer, Refrigerator, Ridding Saddles, Stethoscope, Spark Plug, Street Sweeper, Ironing Board, Lawn Mower...and the list goes on and on and on.

Also, and it is a well documented fact, black slaves were the source of labor behind so many of this country's institutions (Federal Hall, Capitol Hill, etc.) And while yes, Africa is in a 'sad' state today and many technological innoventions are not taking place there, remember that Africans do not even own their own countries due to the horrible acts of Imperialism.

Please know what you're talking about before you make such an insensitive comment in a question!!

think of it like a basketball game.. the red team against the blue. The red team has 5 players and the blue team is allowed only 2. Obviously the blue team is at a disadvantage.. and they're down by 80 points as a result. Someone sees this as unfair finally.. and they fix it and give the blue players 3 more teammates. However.. the red team is still ahead by 80 points!.. you can't start the game over..how do you fix that problem and make the situation totally fair again when one team is always gonna be behind by an extra 80 points?

That's kind of how i see the situation.. with the struggles of the african people in america it's hard to remedy the situation so that no one is at a disadvantage

Why black history month, because most history was recorded by white men, there for most history is about white men, if attention was not brought forward in black history it would get lost. You only have to look back about 40 years ago to discover, that blacks could not even go to the same schools as white kids, they had to go to schools that did not even have enough books, or really outdated books that the white schools, thru out, think about how hard it would be to get into college, like that, how well educated would you be if that was the schooling you were allowed??

wrong this is already a white country so why do u even need a history month, unless you move to china, hey why didnt u mention asians history month it be better if it is black history month mexican heritage month and asian cultural month why should there be a white history month, u can practally have that every day in history, class, july 4 and its a white country anyways so practically every other month that is not used my blacks, mexican , and asian months are white history months, thats 9 months of history

The ONLY race that deserves recognition is the Human Race. We shouldn't have to have Black History Month or White History Month or anything that sets us all apart from each other. All our history is intertwined and it should be presented as such. We all have the same intelligence and can accomplish anything we set our minds to. Instead of picking on our differences we should focus on the similarities and celebrate the differences.

Black history is Feburary
Asian history is in May
Women's history is in March
Native American history is in November
Gay history is in Feburary in the UK.
Saint Patrick Day is for the Irish!
Italian History Month is October

If whites had their own holiday, they'd be called racist. Besides, Black History month should be considered an insult to blacks, because it is mainly whites who "allowed" this month to be "Black History month"
