What would happen if power steering fluid was overfilled?

When the pump is under pressure, ie turning full lock it may cause the fluid to overflow. you DO NOT want brake fluid splashing around the engine bay as it will eat at rubber parts and if it got on to the brake pads or disks could cause a problem stopping!! Aslo if u get it dripping in the drive way it spreads like **** and is hard to clean up as well as being ILLEGAL to deposit fluids on the road.

Hydraulic systems actually need to be filled to the correct level so the pressure builds up to the designed levels. Follow your vehicle recommended procedures in you handbook/manual or simply as a local mechanic, they will usually give the proper advise for free. DONT MESS WITH STEERING OR BRAKES>

Usually nothing. If you already have a weak hose or seal it'll make it worse. Just dip a rag in it to soak it up to at least a level 1/2 inch from the top. Sometimes when it's been overfilled and you've been driving, it just bubbles out through the top. No problem

Overfilling the PS will only result in the excessive fluid leaking out of the reservoir when it heats up. if the new belt still squeaks when the wheel is turned, it may not have enough wrap on the PS pulley with the AC bypassed.

It will usually just push the excess fluid back out the top and it doesn't hurt anything other than making a mess (sometimes it will crack the cap, but not often)

It leaks out.

Might make the car "smoke" if the excess gets on the exhaust.

It will blow out the seals if you're not lucky.
