I was on depo provera for about 3 and a half years. I am 20 years old going on 21 just got married last feb in 2006. I took my last shot that month and got my period back in August. They have been pretty regular 28 day cycle....only got an early period on time. My Hubby and I are trying to have a baby now. I am a healthy young woman I dont smoke or do drugs...and I eat healthy and work out. I feel like my body has gone back to normal. I definalty felt the depo leaving my system...I was horribly emotional for a few months even after I got my period. Lately, this past month I have been feeling VERY pregnant and all of my HPT are coming back Negative. Has anyone else been on depo and if so how long till you concieved...would it be honestly too soon to convieve after being on for 3 years?? even though My periods are back and I feel like I have ovulated and could be pregnant??

I read it can take upto 16 months after you take your last shot to get pregnant. I hate that damn shot!

I was on Depo when I was 19-20 for a year. It took me a year to get a cycle back to normal. I got pregnant when I was 23, pretty much having unprotected sex w/ my bf for a year while we had a long distance relationship. Of course, I did concieve a week and a half after we moved in together, lol in our "honeymoon" phase. It could happen easily any time now, but I know that coming off of depo sucks because that's all you think about is if I could be pregnant, then you psyche yourself out and make the symptoms happen. I actually thought I was pregnant so hard I got the nausea, tender breasts, and was even leaking a milky substance from my breasts, and didn't have a period for 8 months. It's hard to tell you yes or no, but in reality, both are reasonably possible. Good luck!

I was on the Depo shot for almost three years. I had a hard time getting reular afterwards. I went 3 months with out a cycle. Had a normal cycle and then nothing for a solid year. I then had a period for two week strait. Then nothing for 6 months. After being off the shot for two years I started haveing a regular cycle every other week. My doctor told me that being on the depo as long as I had can take a long time to return to normal and may even take going on oral birth control to get back to normal. I did the oral for 6 months to get regular. However I was not trying to have kids during any of this time. If you look up depo on the internet you will find that some people have a hard time when they come off it. Good luck to you, and just see what happens. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor.

It depends on the person. But I was on Depo shot for almost a year after having my daughter. Got my last Shot in April '06, pregnant in November, miscarried last week. Everything I have read says that it can take awhile to get out of your system. Up to 2 years I read on one online site. Also, I have read that getting pregnant too quickly can cause miscarriage. But, being that it has been a year since your last shot, talk to your OBGYN and if everything is fine, GO FOR IT!!!! Also, when I was pregnant, I had litterally 20 negative HPT, and went to the Dr., they took some blood, and it was positive! Don't always trust the HPT's, sometimes you just know your own body better! Good luck!

I am on depo now.. my dr has warned me multiple times however that it is still not 100% and that miss my shot and within weeks I might be? from what I read that is the case too...?

if you are having your periods it should be due to ovulation... we shed that uterine lining only after the cycle.. which is egg matures, is released.. travels down to the uterus and when it dies it triggers the lining to shed.. to prepare a fresh lining for the next month and next egg.....
you could become or could be pregnant.... if you are pretty regular then test after your period is due.. try for morning for the best reading.. and remember? some test brands are not as accurate... so maybe try a different brand? if you are trying? keep in mind worry, stress over missed periods equals you won't get it... lol.. never understand why.. but... and to relax and enjoy the "trying" as much as the getting there...?
hope this helped..
good luck

In addition to what the other poster said, I have recently read that if you are on anti-inflamatories like ibuprophen or aspirin, that it can inhibit your ovulation because the folicle supposedly can be prevented from rupturing, releasing your egg. No rupture ...no egg...no egg...no baby.
